A wheel and tire package solves the two hardest parts of this purchase at once: making sure the tire and wheel are correctly matched to each other, and making sure the combination actually fits your vehicle. Buying a wheel and a tire separately means you are responsible for confirming that the tire width is appropriate for the wheel width, that the overall diameter clears your fenders and suspension at full lock and full compression, and that the offset does not put the tire into the control arm.A tire has a range of wheel widths it is approved for, and where you sit in that range changes the shape of the tire. Mounting a 275 wide tire on an 8 inch wheel pinches the tread and rounds the contact patch. Mounting the same tire on a 10 inch wheel stretches it flat and squares off the shoulders. Neither is wrong in every case, but the tire performs as designed only within its approved range.Packages ship mounted and balanced, and where TPMS is required they can be assembled with sensors already installed and ready to relearn.
