Wheel and Tire Accessories
The hardware between your wheel and your hub is not an afterthought. Most wheel installation problems that people blame on the wheel are actually caused by the wrong lug nut seat, a missing hub centric ring, or a TPMS sensor that was never relearned. This category covers the small parts that make an aftermarket wheel install work correctly. The most common single mistake is lug nut seat type. Factory wheels and aftermarket wheels do not always use the same seat, and using a conical lug nut on a wheel that needs a ball seat, or the reverse, means the nut contacts the wheel on a thin edge instead of seating properly. The joint will feel tight and then loosen, and the wheel can come off. Always match the lug nut seat to the wheel, not to what came off the car. What belongs in the box with a new set of wheels:Lug nuts or bolts with the correct seat type, thread pitch and shank lengthHub centric rings if the wheel bore is larger than your hub, which is usually the caseTPMS sensors if your vehicle requires them, plus a relearn procedureValve stems rated for the pressure you will runA torque wrench, and a re-torque after the first 50 to 100 miles
