SUV and Crossover Wheels

SUVs and crossovers sit between cars and trucks in almost every respect, and their wheels have to reflect that. They carry more weight than a sedan, they have a higher center of gravity, and most of them are used as family vehicles where ride comfort and noise matter more than outright aggression. A load rating suitable for a passenger car is not enough for a three-row SUV loaded with people and cargo. The most common upgrade path is a plus-size: going up in wheel diameter while dropping tire sidewall to keep overall diameter close to stock. Going from a 20 inch to a 22 inch wheel on a Tahoe, for example, means moving from a 275/60R20 to a 285/45R22 to keep the rolling diameter within a couple of percent. Staying close to stock rolling diameter keeps your speedometer accurate, keeps the transmission shifting where it was calibrated, and keeps ABS and stability control reading correct wheel speeds.Be honest about the tradeoff. Every inch of wheel diameter you add takes sidewall away, and sidewall is what absorbs impact. A 22 inch wheel looks excellent and rides noticeably firmer than the 20 it replaced, and it is more vulnerable to pothole damage.

SUV and Crossover Wheels: the questions people ask

How do I know a wheel from SUV and Crossover Wheels will fit?

Four numbers decide it. Bolt pattern and hub bore have to match your vehicle exactly, because those are what physically locate the wheel on the hub. Diameter, width and offset then decide whether the assembled wheel and tire clears your brake caliper on the inside and your fender on the outside. All four are published on every listing here.

What does offset actually change?

Offset is measured from the wheel mounting face to the centreline of the rim. A higher positive offset pulls the wheel in toward the suspension and tucks the tire under the fender. A lower or negative offset pushes it outboard for a wider track and a flush stance, at the cost of more scrub radius, more load on the wheel bearing and a real chance of fender rub. A 25mm change is enough to move a tire from tucked to rubbing.

Do I need hub centric rings?

If the wheel centre bore is bigger than your vehicle hub, yes. Rings fill that gap so the wheel sits on the hub rather than hanging on the studs, and that is what prevents a vibration at highway speed no amount of balancing will cure. They cost a few dollars.

Is the price per wheel or per set?

Per wheel, unless the title says set or package. Set the quantity to four in the cart for a full set. Wheel and tire packages are priced and shipped as a complete assembled set.

How fast do orders ship?

Orders ship from a United States warehouse, normally within 1 to 3 business days of clearing. Orders over $199 ship free, and below that a flat rate is shown at checkout before you pay. Tracking is emailed as soon as the shipment is created.

What can I return?

Unmounted, uninstalled parts in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. A wheel that has had a tire mounted on it, and a tire that has been fitted, cannot be returned because neither is new any more. That is why we check the fitment data on every order against the vehicle you give us before it ships.

Can someone check fitment for me before I order?

Yes, and it costs nothing. Send us the year, make, model, trim and what is on the vehicle now, and we will tell you what fits, what will rub and what it takes to clear.
